Safety

The Toyota Supra has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The F-Type doesn’t offer knee airbags.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Supra Auto offers optional Emergency Braking that use rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically apply the brakes to prevent a collision. The F-Type doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

Both the Supra and the F-Type have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, driver alert monitors, available blind spot warning systems, rear parking sensors and rear cross-path warning.

Warranty

There are almost 7 times as many Toyota dealers as there are Jaguar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Supra’s warranty.

Reliability

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the Supra’s reliability 20 points higher than the F-Type.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Toyota vehicles are more reliable than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Toyota above average in long-term dependability. With 34 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Jaguar is rated below average.

Environmental Friendliness

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Toyota Supra higher (5 to 7 out of 10) than the Jaguar F-Type (3). This means the Supra produces up to 24.5 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the F-Type every 15,000 miles.

Transmission

The Supra offers a manual transmission for better acceleration, control and sportiness. The F-Type doesn’t offer a manual transmission.

Suspension and Handling

The Supra’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (51.5% to 48.5%) than the F-Type’s (54.5% to 45.5%). This gives the Supra more stable handling and braking.

The Supra 3.0 Premium handles at 1.07 G’s, while the F-Type Coupe pulls only .96 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The Supra 3.0 Premium executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the F-Type R75 Coupe (23.7 seconds @ .82 average G’s vs. 24.4 seconds @ .82 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Supra’s turning circle is .8 feet tighter than the F-Type’s (34.1 feet vs. 34.9 feet). The Supra’s turning circle is 2.9 feet tighter than the F-Type AWD’s (34.1 feet vs. 37 feet).

Chassis

The Toyota Supra may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 550 to 600 pounds less than the Jaguar F-Type.

The Supra is 3.5 inches shorter than the F-Type, making the Supra easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

Ergonomics

The Supra 3.0 Premium/45th Anniversary has a standard heads-up display that projects speed and warning readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The F-Type doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the Supra Auto offers an optional Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The F-Type doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.

With optional voice command, the Supra offers the driver hands free control of the radio and the navigation computer by simply speaking. The F-Type doesn’t offer a voice control system.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Toyota Supra 3.0 Manual/Premium/45th Anniversary has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. The F-Type doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.

The Supra was chosen as a Car and Driver’s “Top Ten” for 2023 and 4 more times in the last 42 years. The F-Type has never been chosen by Car and Driver in their “10Best” issue.
