Compare the2025 Toyota bZ4XVS 2025 Porsche Macan Electric

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the bZ4X are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The bZ4X has a standard Secondary Collision Brake, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The bZ4X has a standard Parking Support Brake that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

Both the bZ4X and the Macan Electric have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

Toyota’s powertrain warranty covers the bZ4X 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Porsche covers the Macan Electric. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the Macan Electric ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

Toyota pays for scheduled maintenance on the bZ4X for 1 year and 15000 miles longer than Porsche pays for maintenance for the Macan Electric (2/25000 vs. 1/10,000).

There are over 6 times as many Toyota dealers as there are Porsche dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the bZ4X’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the statistics that show that Toyota vehicles are more reliable than Porsche vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Toyota second in reliability, above the industry average. With 28 more problems per 100 vehicles, Porsche is ranked 6th.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Toyota vehicles are more reliable than Porsche vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Toyota second in overall reliability. Porsche is ranked 8th.

On the EPA test cycle the bZ4X gets better mileage than the Macan Electric:

The bZ4X’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs standard on the Macan Electric are solid, not vented.

The Toyota bZ4X may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 750 to 950 pounds less than the Porsche Macan Electric.

The bZ4X is 3.7 inches shorter than the Macan Electric, making the bZ4X easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the bZ4X’s rear seats recline. The Macan Electric’s rear seats don’t recline.

The bZ4X has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Macan Electric with its rear seat up (27.7 vs. 22.1 cubic feet). The bZ4X has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Macan Electric with its rear seat folded (56.9 vs. 50.6 cubic feet).

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the bZ4X Limited’s liftgate can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

The bZ4X has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the bZ4X has standard extendable sun visors. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer extendable visors.
